This conference and the associated events mark the 400th anniversary of the departure of the Ulster earls for Europe, an event of significance in the evolution of Ireland’s links with its continental neighbours. Participants follow the earls and their entourage on their journey to the European heartland, taking the measure of strengthening European influences on a changing Ireland and assessing the Irish contribution to baroque Europe’s rich inheritance.
